So, a while back, money was tight and there were a couple credit cards I just stopped making payments on (not smart, I know, but that%26#039;s not why I%26#039;m here). I%26#039;m doing a lot better financially and have paid off I believe most of them, but honestly, I don%26#039;t even remember which I owed money to -- and I don%26#039;t get monthly statements because they%26#039;ve been forwarded to collectors. Is there a way to find out who I owe money to -- will a credit check tell me that? Periodically I get a statement from a collector, but now that I%26#039;ve got the money I%26#039;m anxious to be completely paid off, and I don%26#039;t want to just sit around waiting for a collector to call me. Thanks!
Finding out who I am in debt to in order to fix my credit?
Pull your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com. The experian report is the easiest to use and it gives you the names, addresses, and full account numbers of your creditors.
Also you may want to call the collections companies and ask if they are willing to settle, at this point you don%26#039;t have anything else to loose...why not get out from under for as little as possible.

SCH is right. Pull your credit and find out who is saying you owe them money.
You have several options once you find out who it is. You can send debt validation letters, dispute letters to credit bureaus and you can also do some negotiating with creditors and try to get some %26quot;pay for deletes%26quot;.
There is a lot of information to explain in detail. Learn how to repair your credit here:
