My Mom has a shopping addiction. She shops all the time-- she buys things on TV, while at work on ebay and goes to a store everynight to buy more stuff. Most of the time it%26#039;s not even for herself -its gifts for other people. She racked up close to $30,000 in credit card debt and my Grandpa bailed her out by giving her the money to pay off her cards. Now less than two years later, she took a home equity loan out for $95,000 and only has $20,000 left available credit. She also has more credit card debt than she had before. I have talked to her countless times but I dont know what else to do. I am scared that she is going to lose her home. I get so frustrated with her and (i hate to admit this) but I am afraid that I am going to get stuck bailing her out and having to let her move in with me. We are really close, but I don%26#039;t want to change my life because she cant control her shopping. What should I do? If I tell he to go to couseling she refuses....

How to confront my Mom who has a shopping addiction?
From a close friend%26#039;s experience, get yourself counseling, and see what kind of support systems you can get for helping your mom. It will help you figure out different ways to get her going to counseling.
You could take the dramatic approach and start hiding or destroying her cards. She%26#039;ll hate you initially, but it will show that you are taking the problem seriously. It may shock her into going for help.
Talk to her friends and close family and get involved too.
It%26#039;s not an easy situation at all, and it will be frustrating. My friend is still dealing with after many years.
