Debt collection call from law firm?

I received a call today from a law firm called: Giove Law Firm referencing a old credit card (year 2000). This credit card was open and not paid. They stated the credit card provider sold the debt to this agency and the agency has secured the services of this Law Firm. I will say my credit history is not great. I had a girlfriend who I signed a credit card for and even now, to this day, I am paying for it. This credit card does not ring a bell. I googled the law firm and there are bogus reports on it. These people had a lot of my private information and I wanted to know if this is legit. Anyone?

well i am betting this is past the States SOL, meaning they cannot win a suit against you for this bill. I would also pull your credit and see if it is on there %26quot;i bet it is %26quot; being last payment in 2000 this should be off. Send them this letter and send it certified, if they contact you after this letter is in there hads sue them

its not legit,call the credit card company and ask them if they did that.if they did its illegle.they are trying to scare you into paying them and an agency does not need a law firm as they can go to court to get your wages garneshed but for them to got to court it will cost them money

Do not have any communication with any collection agency, they are remorra. They are leeches with nefarious business practices.

As far as credit card companies, they are now being investigated by Congress for their outrageous rules. If you are late just once, no matter how good you payment record, they will raise your rate to over 30 percent. Nice, isn%26#039;t it? Let them rot.
