What options do I have if a judgement has been filed by a credit card company?

I live in Georgia and have a fairly low paying job. I can barely meet my utility bills so I know I cannot pay this debt. I also know I cannot get a loan. Any suggestions?

why would you use the credit card if you knew you couldn%26#039;t pay it back ?

file bankruptcy? just a suggestion...

why don%26#039;t you consult a lawyer who works pro-bono and specializes in credit counselling?

Get another job.

Now that they have a court judgement on you, you have few options.

You pay it. That means you need to cut your living expenses and/or find another part time job.

You don%26#039;t pay it. Then they will garnish your wages and repo your property. End result is same as above.

You can file bankruptcy. Without more info on your situation I can%26#039;t begin to recommend this. If it%26#039;s a small judgement, and you have no other bills, that would be a silly way to go.

For now, call the creditor and see what sort of settlement you can get. Be serious about it! Don%26#039;t offer $20 a month on a debt of $5000. There is no way they will wait 20 years to get paid! If they can%26#039;t reasonably get their money back within 1-2 years they won%26#039;t even consider such a proposal.

I agree with Studly. Get another job to pay it off because you don%26#039;t want to go through bankruptcy!
